New Years Resolutions Round Up

OK so now comes the time of the year when I pledge to be a better me in 2011, but first let's see how 2010 went.

1. Complete Jillian Micheal's 30 Day Shred
I completed this in March I believe, it was hard and it sucked. But it really felt like an accomplishment when I finished it. By the way, Jillian Micheal's will never be a friend of mine.

2. Clean Out the Shed
Does it count if A. did this? Because he totally did. And then he did it again when a friend wanted to store some appliances in the shed when they were moving. But I'm totally crossing this off my list. Thanks A.

3. Go Our Honeymoon
Check! We spent our first anniversary in Washington D.C. It was amazing and such a perfect location for us. I still miss the luxurious hotel we stayed in (and having a krispee kreme across the street).

4. Join a Church
I finally found a church I like here. A. and I even worked their fall festival last Halloween. I don't go that frequently, but I feel like I at least have a place I can go when I need some perspective.

5. Read 35 Books
I kept a running track of the books I read last year and I read  23. This isn't quite 35, but this is still leaps and bounds over what  I have read in previous years. So it is a step in the right direction. Some of my favorite books from this year were: Eat, Pray, Love; The Girls Who Went Away The Hidden History of Women Who Surrendered Children for Adoption in the Decades before Roe v. Wade; Shoe Addicts Anonymous; Death in the Grizzly Maze: The Timothy Treadwell Story; and The Lovely Bones.

6. Become Confident in Role-Plays (fake therapy sessions at school not kinky sex games).
I actually came really far this year. I passed portfolio II and I did one role play where I did so well that no one could even come up with constructive criticism for me. I was on cloud nine after that and ready to take the world of therapy by storm. I'm feeling a little insecure again since I have to start applying for internships pretty darn quick. But I still feel I can place this one in the win pile.

7. Create a Wedding Album
Yeah, I didn't do this at all. Which seems crazy because I feel it was almost the easiest thing on the list. How hard is it to print out some pictures and compile them? It's been nearly two years! But I'm sure I'll do this soonish.

8. Lose 30lbs
This is of course the New Year's Resolution everyone is supposed to make. But I failed, but not completely in my eyes since I maintained the 50lbs weight loss from the previous year. And in the last few weeks I've gone back to healthy eating. So things are well.

9. Write More Legibly
I really took the time to do this, and I'm still making sure I sign my name neater. I finally learned the rule about cursive M's and N's.  I never understood when the M was supposed to have three humps or two. But now I do. So HA take that grammar nazi's.

10. Stop Binge Eating When Sad
I think I've come a long way in stopping the non-stop eating when I'm sad. But I'll probably always crave bad food when I'm feeling bad. I mean when I'm upset a salad isn't going to satisfy me. And I ate a lot of big macs when everything was going on with my brother and sister-in-law... I think it's about knowing your issues and always working to curb them.

So for 2011 I decided not to make any specific resolutions. Instead I'm going to focus on completing five items on my life list.  There is one I'm sure I'm going to accomplish: Learning to Make Sushi. I signed up for a sushi making class on the 29th!  It is a hour and a half away drive from the house, but it is worth it for me. Plus it will be like a little mini-road trip/adventure.  I'm also nervous because I'm going alone, but I will persevere.

I'm also planning on visiting the Winchester Mystery House and attending a Green Bay Packer's Game with A. later this year when they play the San Diego Chargers. This is doubly cool for me because umm I heart the Packers (who are going to roll over the Bears next week as they did the Falcons, so I can have a Super Bowl Party) and I went to high school with Phillip Rivers (the Chargers Quarterback).

It's shaping up to be a good year!

Great job on last year's goals! I love being able to cross things off my to do lists.

I'm reading up on your life list and you are inspiring me girl. I don't know if I could go a week without internet. Maybe for my honeymoon? That'd be a challenge!

Swim with dolphins is on my bucket list too. :-) So proud of you for maintaining your 50lbs weight loss from 2009. That is a huge accomplishment. And Jillian Michaels and her big ol' nostrils can suck it. Go you for completing the 30 day shred!

I heard that most younger people do not even know how to write in cursive, that they aren't even teaching that in school anymore. I wanted to cry when I read that!
I am so glad you put the link up to your blog, I have just seen that you hadn't updated in forever, that I thought you had stopped.. I missed ya!
