Snowed-In Dreaming

This is the picture that my mother sent me this morning. This is the front yard of my home in Alabama.  And since all of my friends are from various parts of the South, everyone is posting pictures just like this one on face book. They are all snowed in and I am jealous. I want to be snowed in, so I can stay home all day in my pjs, watch movies, and drink hot chocolate. But no I will be going to work later, in a short sleeved blouse with maybe a light jacket, to spend several hours with demons children to do math problems. Life is unfair.

You know what else my bragging friends on face book are talking about? Snow Cream. Before last night, I had never heard of snow cream. Now most people don't know this, but I spent the first 11 years of my life in St. Louis (although I do consider myself Southern through and through). So I have had more than a few snow days. But apparently snow cream is freshly fallen snow that you collect, and mix with sugar, vanilla extract, and milk.

So since I was born in the Midwest and have never heard about snow cream, I've developed a theory about snow cream.  People who never see snow, must spend there whole life dreaming about stuff they can do with the snow. And that is how this whole idea of snow cream was born. Because in St.Louis we eat snow, but we just run outside and shove fistfuls in our mouths. Avoiding the "yellow snow" of course. But now I'm obsessed with trying snow cream, and I think I gotta add that to my life list.

In other news, we had a pretty good weekend. On Saturday, we went to a housewarming party for one of our couple friends at their new condo (I love having couple friends, it all feels so grown up).  They had wonderful phillipino food and we had fun getting to know the other people there. Their little nephew also showed up. He was four and so adorable. He really took a liking to A. and me. And watching A. rough house with their nephew really warmed my heart because I can just tell what a wonderful father he will be in a few years.

A. rented Toy Story 3 from game fly for the weekend. And at one point he was playing as Jessie the cowgirl, riding a neon dinosaur, with a strawberry wand that turned townspeople into fairies. As he was jumping on clouds fortified by rainbows, he looked at me and said, "I have never felt less like a man." And I swear I laughed for hours at the absurdity of it all. Oh and told everyone at the housewarming party about it. I'm that kind of wife.

On Sunday, we had the Packers vs. Eagles play off game. Go Pack Go! Oh what a stressful game that was for us. At one point they had it in the bag, and then I was sure that they weren't going to win. And then they clinched it with an interception with 30 seconds left in the game! And we celebrated for hours because we are fanatical football fans. But then we have to do it all again next weekend, and I don't think my little heart can take it.

I'd never heard of snow cream before either, but it has been all over the place in the past few days! Hm, oh well. Sounds like you had a fun weekend :)

I have never heard of snow cream either! Side note: You don't have to worry about your heart for too much longer cause the PACK IS GOING DOWN.

Must.have.snow.cream! That sounds incredible. I've been kind of wishing for snow too, I guess because we never get it. I'm happy I don't have to drive in in though.

Hehe, I can picture A playing that game. I'd have told everyone about it too. :-)
